We welcome referrals at any point during a patient’s treatment, even if they are not yet considered refractory to standard treatment.
When you refer a patient to the Developmental Therapeutics Clinic, our goal is to allow you to maintain an uninterrupted relationship with your patient. After the patient visit, you will receive verbal or e-mail communication regarding your patient, followed by a detailed letter describing our recommendations. If the patient is enrolled in a clinical trial, he/she will come to the University of Chicago for study treatments and study-related visits.
We encourage our patients to continue seeing their local physicians as needed for supportive care and/or management of comorbid conditions. Acute toxicities may also need to be managed locally, especially when the travel distance is substantial.
