A Message from Effie and Kevin
Dear Friends and Family,
In 2001, Kevin's dad, Jay Gleason, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of oral cancer. Throughout his battle with this disease, medical teams at The University of Chicago were a constant lifeline, providing cutting-edge treatment and always looking for the next possible cure. The University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation fought alongside Jay for 4 years, giving him and our family more time than any ever thought possible.
Cancer has touched our lives in many ways, and it is our belief that through research there will one day be a way to save those precious lives who are affected by this disease. While we wish that Jay could be here to celebrate this special time, we feel blessed to have known such a wonderful man. We would like to honor his life, his family, and his unwavering determination to fight such an awful disease. He is missed every day, and he is honored and forever loved.
